A Little update, Pinkie Promise!
Greetings ya’ll!
It’s been 6 months since surgery and the recovery has been getting easier each day! The animation practice is coming along but we spent the last weekend connecting with some amazing people at Armageddon Expo. Meeting the costume designers behind The Boys, Murderbot and Jumanji (Sarah Jeanne Mgeni and Laura Jean Shannon) was a bundle of fantasm and we got to ask a lot of questions and talk to them about Pet Head! Their panel was one of the more indepth ones but we also got hear from Tawny Newsome (Mariner from Star Trek Lower Decks and Illa Dax from Starfleet Academy) and got her to sign our PHDM Star Trek hat (right next to Doug Jones aka Saru from Discovery). Absolutely nerded out the whole weekend. Dad got his stranger things season 4 script book signed by Jamie Campbell Bower and his talk was entertaining (almost as much as the questions he was asked).
As well as catching up with the awesome NZ Comics crew and finally getting the box set of Wasteland Tales we got 2 new tattoos to sign off the last chapter and start the new one heading into the rest of 2026. Ingenue Chapter 3 is almost finished the writing stage, hoping to finish all the re-writes/edits by the end of May to start the pencils stage in June with an eye to releasing it in November or March (if the anthology is finished earlier).
We also just started a weekly community college course learning Sewing with mum, niece and soon-to-be Sis-in-law. Mum gifted us her Bernina Record 830 beast and it still goes hard! Part of our learning and upskilling so we can start upcycling clothes for both our own cosplay plans and also so we can start making some custom merch for PHDM. The idea of making things using opshop upcycling aligns a lot closer to our goals for sustainability and reusability, plus creatively it definitely fits our motto of “follow the fun!”
Speaking of, our new Pinkie Promise EP is finally finished and while it officially comes out everywhere (except Spotify, cos f**k ’em) on May 19th. Its available here now and bandcamp as of 8pm tonight NZT for Bandcamp friday. 6 songs that represent Lilibet and our journey to help her express herself in the world! Thank you all for the continued support and encouragement. It’s given us the courage to try new things, keep learning and grow PHDM into what it is already.
